‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: Are Bonnie And Jeremy Done Forever? EP Teases Bonnie’s New Personality

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 has not been kind to Bonnie (Kat Graham). First, she was sent to an abandoned version of 1994 with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Then they met serial killer Kai (Chris Wood) and Damon was let out of 1994. Now Kai is back in the land of the living with Damon, and Bonnie is completely alone. When she finally returns, she won't be the same old Bonnie any more.

“The Vampire Diaries” showrunner, Julie Plec, teased fans after the midseason finale by telling them that Bonnie would return to the present in Season 6. However, she said that Bonnie would go through a change.

Thankfully for fans, fellow “The Vampire Diaries” executive producer Caroline Dries has spilled a bit more information about Bonnie’s personal journey. According to Dries, When Bonnie burned the Christmas tree in episode 10, she was her letting go of the past.

"It was definitely symbolic," Dries told E! Online. "Bonnie was trying to see the silver lining in her situation and get out and enjoy a day where she could celebrate and reminisce and not feel sorry for herself. She tried to take the high road, and she did, but by the end of the day she realized, ‘This isn't working. I'm alone here. This sucks. Screw it.' This first chapter of Bonnie being stuck in this prison world is over, and a new badass Bonnie is emerging."

While being a badass sounds awesome, we have to wonder what it means for Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Bonnie’s supposed death left Jeremy pretty much single, and he certainly took advantage of the single life after Bonnie was gone. When Elena (Nina Dobrev) told him Bonnie could come back, Jeremy wasn’t too excited. He didn’t believe it would happen and Elena and Damon’s failed trip to 1994 only confirmed his suspicions that he wouldn’t be able to get her back. He even seems to be getting over his ex. When she does come back, will Jeremy still be in love with her? Or better yet, would she want to get back together with him?

"The Vampire Diaries" has often changed relationships as the characters have developed. Obviously, Elena’s love stories have been altered as she became a different person. When she was a human teenager, she loved Stefan (Paul Wesley). After so much loss and becoming a vampire, she loved Damon. Bonnie's changes could be something that changes her relationship with Jeremy forever. Would a darker Bonnie be more interested in Damon? There are certainly some shippers who hope so. Viewers will have to wait until “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 returns to see what will happen to Jeremy and Bonnie.
