‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: Episode 1 Sneak Peek Video Shows What Alaric Is Up To

“Vampire Diaries” fans can take a bite out of the Season 6 premiere before the episode even airs. TV Guide released a sneak peek video from episode 1, “I’ll Remember,” and it gives a surprising look at where the Mystic Falls gang is after the heartbreaking events in the Season 5 finale.

The sneak peek clip kicks off inside the occult studies classroom at Whitmore College. But the premiere won’t be introducing a new teacher. Instead the professor is someone viewers are already familiar with – Alaric!

Does Whitmore College not do background checks on their staff? How did Alaric even end up with the job? Fingers crossed the hit CW series answers some of these questions about the formerly deceased character.

Not surprisingly, Alaric is teaching occult studies to a handful of recognizable faces – like Elena, Liv and Tyler. However that doesn’t mean he’ll have an easier time in the classroom.

“The study of the occult is the study of hidden knowledge,” Alaric informs his pupils. “Today we’re going to discuss it as it relates to resurrection.”

While Elena hides behind her notebook, Liv laughs at Alaric’s lecture. “Is there something funny, Liv?” he asks. And Liv is completely honest with him.

“Um, more like ironic,” she tells him. “But okay.”

Fortunately Alaric is saved from the awkward exchange when Tyler busts into the room a couple minutes late. Watch the sneak peek clip of the Mystic Falls gang at Whitmore College below:

As we previously reported, Season 6 episode 1 will kick off with a four-month time jump after the Season 5 finale. Viewers will discover that Elena has dealt with the loss of Damon in an “unconventional and potentially dangerous way.” Meanwhile the premiere will find Caroline trying to reverse the anti-magic spell on Mystic Falls; Jeremy falling down a destructive path; and Tyler struggling to control his anger now that he has a fresh start as a human.
