‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: Kat Graham Talks Nina Dobrev’s Exit, Teases ‘Epic Battle’
Kat Graham may have dropped a hint about how her “Vampire Diaries” co-star Nina Dobrev will leave the show. Graham, who plays Bonnie on the supernatural series, revealed some spoilers about the season finale for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 during a visit to VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz" Wednesday.
First, Graham addressed Dobrev’s departure. Dobrev, who plays Graham's character's longtime friend Elena on the program, announced on Instagram earlier this week that she would be leaving the CW show for good at the end of Season 6. It seems the news wasn’t as much of a shock for her co-stars as it was for all the fans.
“It’s very bittersweet,” Graham revealed. “We’re all family, and you always want to stay together forever, but everyone has their journey, and all you can do is wish them well and support them. This was a decision that I know was made a long, long time ago. I’m just excited for her, and to see what’s next.”
Graham is the first cast member to comment on Dobrev’s exit. If the rest of the cast has known about Dobrev’s exit as long as Graham has, that might explain why the actors haven’t said anything about the situation on social media.
Though Dobrev won’t be around, the show has already been renewed for Season 7. The CW previously confirmed that the drama will continue with a focus on characters Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). That means that Dobrev’s character Elena needs to be written out. With the cure for vampirism back in the picture, Elena could ride off into the sunset with a beating heart. However, Graham didn’t tease a peaceful finale.
When asked for some spoilers about “The Vampire Diaries” season 6 finale, Graham revealed that there will be some violence in episode 22. “Also, there’s an epic battle … there’s a cool, epic battle in the season finale,” she said.
Could Elena be caught up in this battle and die? Season finales on “TVD” have brought about plenty of tragedies before. Jenna (Sara Canning) died in the Season 2 finale and Bonnie died in the Season 4 finale (and was brought back to life the next season), so it would be pretty typical to have a major character death in the last episode. Unfortunately, Graham didn’t elaborate on who would be involved or why there will be a fight. It looks like fans will just have to tune in to see how Elena gets written off.
