‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Candice Accola Teases Stefan And Caroline Romantic Future

Fans of Stefan and Caroline are anxiously waiting for the couple to get together in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, and it seems the actors are in the same boat. Candice Accola recently said that she has loved watching Stefan (Paul Wesley) and her character Caroline’s romance, but she is ready for them to finally be together.

“I love that it’s been, as [showrunner] Julie Plec says, such a slow burn over the seasons and it didn’t rush into it,” Accola explained to Digital Spy. “I like that there’s so much tension between the characters, and it’s kind of like walking such a thin line of ‘they’re either going to work out great or this is going to be such a tragic disaster.’ So we’ll see what happens. I’m excited.”

Some Steroline shippers might be a little worried about that “tragic disaster” option, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the direction in which Stefan and Caroline are headed. In an interview with TV Guide, the actress sounded more confident of the characters’ future together.

“I feel like six seasons is a nice, long slow-burn. I'm excited to see these characters together,” Accola explained. “Usually, it's so immediate, especially on our series ... in real life, it's the person you can be yourself in front of in the most dorky way. I think that both of these characters have seen the worst in each other, and they still like each other. And I think that's really cool and that's really special."

As previously reported, Plec confirmed that life will treat Caroline a little better in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7. “At the end of the pilot, she says, ‘Why doesn’t anybody ever pick me?’” Plec told audiences at the ATX Festival in June. “You realize, here’s a girl who’s trying so hard to matter and she’s over trying, she’s overcompensating. What you’ve done in a TV series is you’ve set up a girl, that by the end of her run as a character, she will be the one that gets picked first.”

Stefan might not be the only Salvatore brother with a love interest in Season 7. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is still grieving the loss of Elena (Nina Dobrev), but he’ll likely be spending a lot more time with his friend Bonnie (Kat Graham). “Ian and I do some really great work together … whether he’s directing or he’s in a scene with me, he’s just awesome. We really connect,” Graham told Digital Spy.

However, she wasn’t so sure that their friendship would grow to be more when asked about their relationship. “I hope so,” she said.
