‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Will Stefan And Caroline Be Together In The Flash-Forwards?

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 always makes time for romance, but that might change in the future. Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline’s (Candice King) flash-forwards might not be the happy future some fans are hoping for, at least not in the premiere episode.

“Things are quite dire in the Oct. 8 premiere’s flash forwards, so romance isn’t really the priority,” TVLine teases.

As previously reported, “Vampire Diaries” will experiment with flash-forwards this season. The CW drama has often used flashbacks, but this will be the first time they look into the future on a regular basis.

Stefan’s future isn’t exactly calm and relaxing. Wesley revealed that he doesn’t know what new evils are in the future, but they seem to be deadly. “I know that someone is after Damon and Stefan, and there's imminent danger and threat,” Wesley teased to PopSugar in July. “They're running from this thing, but I don't know what it is. It's ambiguous, but obviously on purpose.”

However, Steroline shippers will be happy to know that the couple has quite a few present day scenes together. “That said, Caroline and Stefan share plenty of screentime — and a few awkward, loaded silences — back in present day Mystic Falls,” TVLine added.

Caroline will still be dealing with the death of her mother and the guilt of turning off her humanity, so she isn’t quite ready for a relationship. King noted that the characters are not in a perfect situation for romance, but their hearts are in the right place. “Fans of the couple shouldn't expect this perfect romance, but what the characters feel for each other is very perfect,” King told TV Guide. “So, if the situations aren't perfect, the intentions are still really good, so that's what they're fighting for through the chaos and the demise of Mystic Falls.”
