‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Spoilers: Episode 12 Synopsis, Photos, Sneak Peek And Promo Video Released

Stefan’s latest kill may have been his worst one yet. He murdered Enzo last week, but there might be a silver lining. It seems the bloody event will bring Stefan’s humanity back in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, episode 12. Unfortunately, it won’t be easy for him to get over his guilt.

It seems Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will make it his personal mission to make sure Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) sins are forgiven. “In order to save Stefan’s soul, Damon makes a deal with Cade (Wolé Parks) to retrieve the Maxwell journal,” the synopsis for the CW drama teases.

Matt (Zach Roerig) isn’t just going to hand over the book. He isn’t interested in saving Stefan. He’s more interested in saving thousands of lives from Cade, and the journal might be able to help with that. “Alaric (Matt Davis) and Matt refuse to hand the journal over as it may contain the key to destroying Cade,” the summary reveals.

It seems the fight over the journal will lead to some flashbacks. This will be the first time that audiences see Matt in a flashback, but it’s not actually the police officer. He apparently shares a face with his ancestor, Ethan Maxwell, and it looks like Ethan knew Sybil (Nathalie Kelley).

Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice King) will be trying to help her fiancé now that his humanity is back. Stefan will try to cut himself off from his loved ones, though. “Caroline desperately tries to connect with Stefan before Cade goes through with his plan,” the synopsis says.

A sneak-peek video from episode 12 above reveals that Stefan is not handling his latest kill well. “Everytime I close my eyes I see it play out over and over again in my head,” he tells Caroline. “Every time I open them, I see Enzo’s blood on my hands.”

He refuses to go to Caroline, but he has another problem. A cop is pulling him over. How will Stefan handle the officer? Audiences will have to tune into the final season of “The Vampire Diaries” to find out.

Elsewhere, Bonnie (Kat Graham) will be grieving the loss of Enzo (Michael Malarkey), and she might be in denial. In the trailer for “TVD” Season 8, episode 12, it looks like Bonnie might be getting another witch to do a spell on him. Watch the promo video below:

Episode 12 is titled “What Are You?” Like so many of the episode titles this season, it’s something Elena (Nina Dobrev) said in an early episode. It was a question she asked when she realized that Stefan wasn’t human.
