‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder And Wife Nikki Reed ‘Can’t Wait’ To Have Kids

Ian Somerhalder has only been married for a few months, but he’s already excited about becoming a father. The “Vampire Diaries” actor said that he and wife Nikki Reed have discussed having children.

“Oh, hell yes! Absolutely,” Somerhalder told Entertainment Tonight when asked about being a dad. “You know, it’s all about practice … It’s not practice makes perfect — it’s perfect practice.”

Somerhalder and the “Twilight” actress were married in California in April. The rustic ceremony was a surprise to their guests and only included a small group of their close family and friends. Afterwards, the two traveled the world on their honeymoon, and the newlyweds were asked about babies as soon as they came back.

Just three weeks after getting married, Reed was asked about becoming a mother. She confirmed that they would eventually have kids, but not right away. “At some point, yes,” she told E! News.

Somerhalder elaborated much more in his recent interview. “It’s the most incredible thing to be happy and secure in something,” he explained. “It’s a pretty crazy time and place to bring a child into this turbulent and insane world — but I really can’t wait to do it.”

The couple bought a house earlier this month that might be perfect for a family. Variety reports that their new Los Angeles home has three bedrooms. That seems like enough room for expanding their family, but then again, they might just need the room for their pets. Reed and Somerhalder are the proud owners of nine animals.
