‘Vampire Diaries’ Stars Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev Reportedly Awkward At Comic-Con, Photographed Looking Cozy [PHOTOS]
Break ups are tough, especially if you have to work alongside your ex on a popular TV series. After a brief break over the summer, “The Vampire Diaries” stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are back together -- for work purposes only. However, photographs from Comic-Con 2013 (candid and non) show that things may not actually be that awkward for the recently reunited exes.
Somerhalder and Dobrev ended their relationship in May after dating for three years. While reports first indicated that the split was difficult for the 24-year-old actress, the two now appear to be back on friendly terms.
“The Vampire Diaries” cast returned to their Atlanta set to begin filming on July 8 and visited San Diego’s Comic-Con over the weekend to talk about the upcoming fifth season of their hit CW vampire drama.
“At airport, getting pumped for the ComicConCrazytimes ahead!” Dobrev tweeted on Saturday. “Can’t wait to see everyone, especially since I was filming during the hiatus and didn’t get to hang with you guys at the conventions this summer! Sad face :( Ill make up for it today! Promise! Loveeee you guys!”
According to E! Online, when Dobrev did arrive there was some slight tension at the “Vampire Diaries” panel. The awkwardness occurred when Somerhalder offered up his ex’s phone number to a fan. While obviously a joke, E! reports that the comment at the panel came after Dobrev tried to avoid Somerhalder in the press room.
“Ian showed up, and Nina showed up shortly after,” the source said. “She saw Ian was right in front of her and went away, then came back a little later so they were spaced out a bit more during press-line interviews.” But the reports of awkward encounters and tension don’t appear to match up with the photos of the pair that hit Twitter.
