  • Vanessa Bryant and her mom Sofia Laine settled the lawsuit the latter filed against her daughter in December 2020
  • The terms of the settlement have not been made public
  • Laine alleged Bryant owed her for past unpaid work as a "longtime personal assistant and nanny"

Vanessa Bryant has settled the lawsuit she was embroiled in with her mother, a report says.

Court documents obtained by E! News Friday revealed that the "entire case" between Sofia Urbieta, also known as Sofia Laine, and her daughter "has been settled." The terms of the settlement have not been made public.

Bryant and Laine have not responded to the outlet's requests for comment.

Months after losing her husband Kobe Bryant and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna in a January 2020 helicopter crash, the mother of four was served a lawsuit which she described as "disgraceful."

Laine claimed in her December 2020 filing that her daughter allegedly owed her for past unpaid work as a "longtime personal assistant and nanny" for the couple and their four daughters, Natalia, 18, Gianna, Bianka, 4, and Capri, 2.

She claimed she was owed $200,000, computed at a rate of $96 an hour, according to TMZ Sports, which was the first to report the settlement.

Laine also alleged in an interview with Univision that Bryant abandoned her and kicked her out of her home when the late NBA star "promised to take care of " her for the rest of her life. "She told me, ‘I need you to get out of this house.’ She also told me that she wanted her car and she wants it now," Laine said in Spanish.

Bryant denied her mom's allegations and accused Laine of extortion.

"My mother is continuing to try and find ways to extort a financial windfall from our family," she said in a statement at the time. "I have supported her for nearly 20 years, and she was never my or Kobe's personal assistant, nor was she a nanny. I have always been a stay-at-home mother and my husband and I were our daughter's full-time care givers."

Bryant added that Laine had no regard for how the lawsuit was affecting her and her children. She alleged that her mom wanted to live off of them for the rest of her life and continue to collect monthly alimony.

"My husband and I have never discouraged or kept her from providing for herself. This lawsuit is frivolous, disgraceful, and unimaginably hurtful. My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy," Bryant added.

Laine fired back by claiming that she only wanted "what I worked for."

"Vanessa, despite everything that I have been promised and done for her and the family, has attempted to sever all ties and renege on all obligations and agreements," Laine said in a statement to Us Weekly in December last year.

She went on to accuse Bryant of making "false statements" against her in an alleged attempt to "preserve her reputation."

"But it does not excuse her behavior," Laine insisted. "She knows the truth and she knows I was their nanny. She knows very well that she failed to pay me what I was owed."
