Multi-weight class champion Vasyl Lomachenko said he dreams of fighting undefeated champ Floyd Mayweather.

Ukraine’s Lomachenko is viewed as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today. Boasting a record of 14-1 with 10 coming by way of knockout, and having held multiple belts, most of the top-tier lightweights are yearning for a crack at “Loma.”

While Lomachenko remains open for any top lightweight opponent, he also revealed that the most interesting fight he has in mind right now is a superfight with Mayweather.

In a recent Q & A session with fans (via World Boxing News), Lomachenko talked about a dream fight with a legendary boxer who has a “big name.” When asked if he could choose any boxer from any era to give him the best fight, the Ukrainian picked out Mayweather but did not elaborate on how he thinks the fight would go down.

“Of course I would like to fight somebody who is undefeated. Who has a good history, who has a big name. I think the most interesting name for me to fight would be Floyd Mayweather,” Lomachenko revealed.

The superfight between Mayweather and Lomachenko is viewed by pundits as a game of minds. Both fighters are arguably the best in performing the art of hitting without getting hit. On top of that, the pair also have quick hands that can outbox their opponents for the whole 12 rounds.

Ahead of the fantasy fight, Russian heavyweight boxer Alexander Povetkin already has his pick between Mayweather and Lomachenko. According to Povetkin, he can already view the possible outcome of the fight and he bets on the younger Lomachenko to win.

“I also relate well to the Vasyl Lomachenko. Between Floyd Mayweather and Lomachenko, I did choose Lomachenko,” Povetkin said.

Meanwhile, Lomachenko is currently linked to a controversy with his touted lightweight opponent Devin Haney. The unbeaten lightweight sensation has been on the hot seat following his comments made in a recent interview on the 78SPORTSTV YouTube channel via Boxing Scene. Haney, who is viewed by pundits as the next Mayweather, said that he will never lose to a “white boy,” pertaining to the color of Lomachenko’s skin.

“I can tell you this – I will never lose to a white boy in my life. I don’t care what nobody got to say. Listen, can’t no white boy beat me, I don’t care, on any day of the week. I fight a white boy like 10 times, I’m gonna beat him 10 times,” Haney said of Lomachenko.

In a public statement on Tuesday, April 21, Haney took back his words and apologized to everybody saying “I sincerely regret using a term that I have now learned to be derogatory to many of my fans, friends and associates.”
