“Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus believes Season 7 will be the last for the hit HBO series.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress said, “It became clear that this season should be the last season. We don’t want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series.”

Even though the end is already in sight for “Veep,” Louis-Dreyfus said that the decision didn’t come easy for her or the people behind the show. “Let’s face it, this has been a role of a lifetime,” she said.

“Veep” executive producer David Mandel echoed the actress’ feelings, but said that Season 7 is the best time to say goodbye. “It was just a very natural thing. We don’t want to repeat ourselves or be boring. It’s bittersweet but it’s right,” he said.

Meanwhile, “Veep” Season 7 will have a total of 10 episodes, but the TV show won’t premiere until next year. Mandel said that he and the writers have already broken down the events that will be written into the scripts for the 10 episodes. “If we needed five more episodes, everybody was open to five more,” Mandel said. Unfortunately, this never became the case for “Veep.”

The filming for Season 7 will kick off on Oct. 16, and Mandel could no longer keep his excitement over what they have in store for the fans.

In June, Mandel told TV Line that HBO has decided to give “Veep” another season, but added that Season 7 won’t be the last. “I don’t want to go there. We need to sit down and figure out if there are three more seasons, two more seasons, one more season… Everything is still on the table,” he said.

He also said that there won’t be a one-year time-jump in Season 7 unlike in Season 6. “One of the areas that really is interesting to me is the campaign before the campaign. I’m also fascinated about what it’s like to live in Iowa two years before a national election when every five minutes a different person is knocking on your door,” he said.
