Las Vegas police discovered a makeshift backyard gas station on Tuesday.

US News reported that Las Vegas Fire and Rescue shared what seems to be an illegal homemade gas station which consisted of two yellow tanks against the corner of a walled backyard with a gas pump nozzle on the end of the hose.

In a social media post, officials reported that the hose was long enough to span the distance between the yard and the street for “possible curb side fill-ups”.

“This is not only illegal in the city, it is a hazard to neighbors (and) first responders who may respond there for an emergency, like a fire,” the department said.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officials said that the gas station may be part of an illegal trend where people buy gasoline with stolen credit card information and transfer the fuel into containers in private homes, the New York Times reported.

Authorities are now investigating the case and homeowners might receive possible citations.
