A venomous snake bit a seasoned catcher in Gold Coast, Australia, on Saturday.

The snake catcher, identified as Tony Harrison, responded to a home in Pimpama after receiving a report from the resident stating that an eastern brown snake, considered the world's second most venomous land snake, was hiding in the air conditioning unit.

Upon arrival, the catcher opened the unit and was startled when the reptile bit him on the thumb. He was given first aid by the residents before paramedics arrived and took him to a nearby hospital. Harrison was live-streaming the rescue when the incident took place.

Recalling the incident, he said, "I saw that the snake had darted under the aircon unit, so I went to grab its tail, but it had turned around. So when I stuck my hand under there, its face was right there waiting for me."

"I'm very aware of the potential possibilities, so I was scared to say the least. I was worried about not seeing my family again,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook Live from the hospital, he said. "I see blood, and my worst nightmare was being lived out. Imagine the feeling of knowing you may die in a few hours.”

After a few tests, Harrison was discharged from hospital and resumed work the following morning.
