Verizon Vault Opened and Police Line Disconnected by Mischief
A mischief at Verizon went to an underground vault with keys and disconnected the police landline phone service.
Local state police were without phone and computer service from 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the outage lasted for 21 hours. Calls were forwarded to dispatchers working out of another barracks a couple of miles away.
Local businesses in the Lemont Furnace area were also affected, and didn't have communication service for nearly 30 hours.
Police of Lemont Furnace believe that the suspect had keys, as there were no signs of forced entry near the Penn State Fayette campus. As of now, police don't have a suspect.
It is uncertain if the Tuesday incident was connected with the Verizon strike.
