A 19-year-old man from Iowa was arrested over the weekend after a "very large bag of marijuana" fell out of his shirt and he attempted to convince authorities that it was not his.
Members of the Iowa City Police Department were responding to calls of a disturbance at an apartment early Saturday when they encountered the man, identified as Kyle Clark, and another individual "face to face yelling at each other," The Smoking Gun reported, citing a criminal complaint by officer Tyler Lakose.
Clark attempted to walk away upon spotting the officers, who noticed he "had a very large bulge under his shirt near the waist line like he was trying to hide something," according to Lakose's complaint.
When asked by Lakose if the protrusion was "a bag of weed," Clark "tried to walk down the stairs which was a dead end," the report said.
Clark was handcuffed at around 3 a.m. when "a very large bag of marijuana fell under his shirt," which he denied ownership of.
Clark was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug counts and booked into the Johnson County jail following the discovery of the marijuana stash weighing roughly around four ounces. He was reportedly released late Saturday morning.
A similar incident happened in Louisiana in 2019 when a woman denied ownership of methamphetamine that was discovered inside a plastic bag lodged in her vagina.
Ashley Beth Rolland was brought into police questioning after she was accused of stealing $5,000 from her boyfriend's home. The alleged victim, identified as Eugene Dix, told West Monroe Police Department officers that Rolland had stayed with him in his apartment for about a week.
During an interview with police officers, Rolland reportedly confessed to stealing the money, which was recovered during a "consensual search of Rolland's person" by a female correctional officer, according to a probable cause affidavit. The amount seized from the search was $6,233.
The female officer also discovered a "clear plastic bag containing approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine inside Rolland's vagina," which she insisted never belonged to her.
Rolland was charged with felonies theft and narcotics possession before being booked into Ouachita Parish jail.
