Vic's Picks: Mets over Yankees, and the Preakness winner is in the stars
Who do you like this weekend, Victor? I asked, and he told.
At least once a week I'm usually lucky enough to run into Victor in the early morning in front of my building, just as he's getting his cab ready for the day's work. He's never shy about sharing his picks for the weekend's sporting events. I'm sharing them with you. That's what neighbors do.
The Mets and the Yankees tangle this weekend. It could get ugly--the Yankees are on track for another winning season and the Mets ... are the Mets. Any chance the crosstown rivalry will heat up and get interesting during their three-game set?
I'm saying the Mets will take two out of three, said Vic. The Mets have R.A. Dickey, Chris Capuano, and Mike Pelfrey going, and I see Capuano and Pelf winning their games. Dickey--I don't know when he'll figure out his problems. He stinks right now. The Yankees will take the first game and the Mets the last two.
Who do you like in the Preakness Stakes this Saturday?
I'm going with Astrology. I'm looking to put a nice amount on him to place--I'm leaving room for Dialed In to come in up top. Dialed In got caught in the crowd in the Kentucky Derby but he was the class in that race. Forget about Animal Kingdom. People will bet down Animal Kingdom because he won the Derby, but he is bred for distance, not speed.
Vic jumped in his cab and sped off.
