Singer-turned-designer Victoria Beckham has revealed that she was “bullied” for being an awkward teenager when she was still in school.

Speaking in an interview with Vogue Australia, the 46-year-old celebrity noted that she struggled to make friends in the past and when she looked back at her time in school, she realized how much she used to get “bullied” by other students.

Beckham also shared that she would never want anyone to go through the bullying that she endured while she was studying. She said she is using her traumas to educate her children on how not to be insensitive toward others.

During the interview, the former Spice Girls member revealed that when Harper Beckham, her 9-year-old daughter, started school, she advised her to help those who were being alienated by others. The fashion designer explained that she told her daughter to play and engage with the “little girl” who was sitting on her own in a playground filled with kids.

“When I was at school, I was quite an awkward teenager; I didn't have a huge amount of friends, and looking back I recognize that I was bullied at times. I would never want anyone else to feel how I was made to feel. So when Harper started school, I said to her, 'If you're ever in the playground and there's a little girl who is sitting on her own, ask her to play with you, go up and engage with her, because Mummy used to be that little girl.' I want everyone to know that no one is on their own when Harper is around,” Victoria told the publication.

On the other hand, the “Wannabe” hitmaker believes that the ongoing pandemic has made kindness much more “important” than it used to be. She feels that there is so much of “uncertainty” across the globe due to the global health crisis and it is everyone’s responsibility to “explain” to their children as to what is happening around the world right now. She concluded by saying that people need to be more “patient” and “supportive” of each during such tumultuous times.

''In my opinion, this pandemic has probably made kindness even more important - no-one can ignore it. Right now, there is so much uncertainty and we are all scared and nervous. None of us have experienced this situation before, so it's our responsibility to protect and explain this crazy time to our children and to focus on being more patient, understanding, and supportive of each other,” Vogue Australia quoted Victoria, as saying.
