After a half of few real chances to score, Arsenal turned things around in the second half as Robin van Persie scored two goals, and Alex Song scored another, as the Gunners defeated lowly Bolton, 3-0, at Emirates Stadium.

David Wheater picked up a red card in the 55th minute, which severely weakened Bolton's chances of making a game of it for Wanderers.

Van Persie scored after less than a minute into the second half, as he went near post. He would score again off a cross from Theo Walcott in the 71st minute. It was van Persie's 100th goal for Arsenal.

Song's shot in the 89th minute was a beauty. The defensive midfielder created some space for himself with a pair of moves, and then delivered a great shot from just inside the edge of the box.

Arsenal desperately needed a victory, and a home match against a Bolton club that went into the match with nine of 10 losses in the Premier League was basically a must-win situation.

The Gunners took 27 shots with 10 on goal, while Bolton struggled to attack, the club only took three shots, with two on goal. Arsenal needed a match where they dominated ball possession, and did just that on Saturday, by holding onto the ball for 63 percent of the match.

With Stuart Holden and Gary Cahill on the bench, Bolton were without arguably two of the club's best players. Wanderers have one of the worst records, and appear to need more help in the midfield.

As for Arsenal, Wenger's club will now need to prove they can earn victories over top competition, as the only two wins of the Premier League seasons are against Bolton and Swansea.
