The incident occurred at a Burlington Coat Factory at the Northtown Mall in Blaine, Minnesota, around 9 p.m. on the major shopping day. The security guard attempted to stop two women leaving with unpaid items when one pepper-sprayed him in order to flee the store.

The incident was caught on a store’s security camera and has since made the rounds on social media.
The loss prevention officer spotted the two women, described as being in their early 20s, trying to leave the stores with baskets full of items they had lifted from around the store. While the guard struggled against one woman, the other is seen pulling out her mace and spraying him in the face. He collapsed to the floor quickly as another employee tried to intervene but was also sprayed by the woman before both grabbed items they dropped and fled the store.
Blaine Police Department responded but both women had fled mall property. While one of the employees sprayed recovered at the store, the other reportedly had to be taken to a nearby hospital to be treated.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the women responsible, who will reportedly face aggravated assault charges. Blaine Police can be reached at (763) 427-1212.
