A Boston man was caught on video jumping on the hood of his car as someone attempted to steal it.

The attempted theft took place Monday near the Boston Symphony Hall. A man was captured on the surveillance video walking towards the building when he suddenly turns and runs back into the street. He is then seen jumping on the hood of a car before being thrown from it while the car speeds off.

The video was first obtained by Boston NBC-affiliate WYCN, before appearing online after.

“I jerked around in time to literally see the man flying through the air,” witness Eric Buckley told WYCN. “He smashed on the ground. I put my bags down and ran up. He was trying to stagger to his feet.”

Police arrived shortly after receiving a call about the incident around 7:45 p.m. Shortly after arriving, another witness told police a speeding car crashed into three parked cars nearby.

Police then spoke to the reported the unidentified victim, who said he got out to grab something from his car’s trunk. The car thief then jumped into the driver’s seat, locked the doors, and attempted to drive away. The victim then jumped on the hood of the car while the suspect swerved in the road trying to get him off.

As of Wednesday, the suspect has not been apprehended and an investigation is ongoing.
