After a leaked video trailer of the Hollywood/David Fincher version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo spread widely over the Memorial Day weekend before being pulled by Sony, the officially sanctioned preview is now up.

It's herky -- each shot lasts about a second -- and angsty, driven by Trent Reznor and Karen O's cover of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song. Daniel Craig looks like Daniel Craig throughout. (Best moment: him taking off his glasses in three successive shots, then jumping as a wooden fence is shot behind him.) But if you haven't read the books, about all you'll glean from the preview is that this is a dark story that takes place by a beautiful snowy wooded lane and mansion, Daniel Craig is on the prowl, and a biker chick in a leather jacket plays an important role in the story.

Oh, and it's the feel bad movie of Christmas.

Then again, nearly everyone has read one of Stieg Larsson's books since they came to America three years ago, as blogger Wilda Williams of In the Bookroom reports here.

The movie is due to hit theaters Dec. 21.
