A Florida man claimed an attempted break-in was all because of his horse.

The incident occurred Thursday in Pasco County when a man started getting alerts on his phone about a possible break-in. The homeowner, Steve Ferguson, immediately called the local sheriff’s office about the break-in before deciding to head home himself to deal with the situation. He was greeted to the sight of a horse running off before coming across the man caught on camera, Lonnie Maddox.

“I said, ‘What were you doing in my house?’” Ferguson told local media. “The guy said, ‘My horse broke into your house, mister, and I had to go in and get her.’ I said, ‘OK, so she broke into the gate and then the porch and then the house?’”

Ferguson managed to record the attempted break-in on his security system, which showed Maddox trying to get into the house through the padlocked front door.

He then posted the video online shortly after.

Ferguson had also revealed that the area he had moved into has a history with break-ins and he knew that when he bought the home. He quickly installed a new security system, along with a fence and no trespassing signs. The horse broke the fence on its way in and also supposedly did $100 of damage to windows around the house.

An extra wrinkle to this was that the horse didn’t even belong to Maddox.

The horse has since been returned to its rightful owner and Maddox is currently in custody.
