Roger Federer continues to prove he still has plenty left in the tank, as the 37-year-old on Sunday defeated American John Isner in the Miami Open final, 6-1, 6-4. It was Federer's 101st career title and his fourth title in Miami.

"It has been a super long journey for me here," Federer said after the match. "To stand here right now really means a lot after so many years."

Federer, who is ranked No. 5 in the world, improved his 2019 record to 18-2 by containing Isner's powerful serve to earn a convincing win over 64 minutes. It didn't take long for the Swiss legend to exert his dominance, breaking Isner's serve in the opening game and then cruising to a first-set win in just 24 minutes.

While Isner's main weapon is his serve, it was Federer who would win a staggering 32 of 35 points on serve, while Isner managed just nine aces.

It didn't help matters for Isner that he was struggling through a foot injury in the seventh game of the second set. The 33-year-old claimed his foot was even bothering him in the first set.

Isner, ranked No. 9, saw his record in 2019 drop to 10-6.

"Roger, we’re so lucky to have you and we want you to keep playing and literally never retire," Isner said after the match.

Ahead of the final, Federer said he enjoyed watching a big server like Isner, while describing himself as a "big fan" of the 6-foot-10 star.

"It's really hard to play against him," Federer said.
