In her first public appearance since the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew in October, Oscar winner and American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson gave a perfect performance of the national anthem before the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Hudson, 27, stepped onto a round dais at Raymond James Stadium for her pre-game performance wearing skinny pants, a blue military cropped jacket, a white top and gold jewelry.

Hudson's performance followed a tribute to the crew of U.S. Airways Flight 1542 and a performance of America the Beautiful by Faith Hill.
