VIDEO Panthers, Saints Fight: Cam Newton Causes Brawl In New Orleans After Touchdown
A brawl broke out between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints Sunday after quarterback Cam Newton celebrated a touchdown with his “Superman” pose.
Newton rushed for a two-yard score to push the Panthers lead to 17-0 with less than seven minutes left in the first quarter, but Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan took some serious umbrage with his celebration.
Jordan shoved Newton in the back and players from both sides began to tussle between the back of the end zone and the stands.
The footage below, first posted by The Sporting News, shows a number of players involved in the mini-melee, but only Carolina tight end Brandon Williams was thrown out. He and Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton were flagged for personal fouls, but Williams was ejected for throwing punches.
The NFC South rivalry isn’t known for being so contentious, but Jordan’s main issue was probably Newton showing up the Saints in front of their home crowd.
At 5-7, New Orleans is also hoping to win the division and the possibility of a frustrating blowout loss to 3-8 Carolina isn’t exactly an ego boost.
