Real Madrid are playing like an unstoppable machine and no one in Spanish Primera seems capable of slowing them down at the moment. Behind impressive goals from James Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, Los Blancos rocked Eibar 4-0 at Municipal on Saturday for their 10th victory of the season.

Winners of eight straight, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are still in first place on the La Liga table with 46 goals scored, and keep Atletico Madrid in second despite their 3-1 win over Malaga earlier in the day. Unfortunately for Eibar, they continue to struggle with only one victory in their last eight La Liga matches and remain in 11th place.

Though they were sloppy, and Eibar’s defense was also disruptive at times, Madrid proved they could be dangerous even during a broken play. Case in point, Rodriguez’s goal in the 23rd minute.

Ronaldo had carved out space down the right wing and found Benzema alone in front of the net, but the Frenchman evidently misread the play and tried to scoot it back to Ronaldo only to see rolling out of bounds. But the Portuguese recovered the ball before it was too late and chipped a late cross to Rodriguez for the unmarked header and lead.

As well as assisting Rodriguez with his fifth goal of the year, Ronaldo strengthened his hold on the La Liga scoring lead. In the 43rd minute, Daniel Carvajal worked the ball inside Eibar’s penalty area and found Ronaldo for a brilliant shot that was part deflection and part chip and nestled inside the top right corner.

Ronaldo would later bury a penalty in the 83rd minute after Eibar defender Raul Redal was booked for a handball. Ronaldo has now totaled 20 goals this season, double that of Barcelona’s Neymar.

The crowd and Eibar keeper Xabi Irureta took some umbrage with Benzema’s goal in the 69th minute. Marcelo came up behind defender Eneko Boveda and appeared to foul him near the goal line, allowing Rodriguez to gain possession and assist Benzema for the wide open and simple right-footed strike. Replays later showed there was very little contact.
