Video Shows Jeremy Renner Being Airlifted To Hospital After Snowplow Accident
KEY POINTS
- Jeremy Renner suffered "extensive" injuries after a plowing machine accidentally ran over one of his legs
- One of his neighbors, a doctor, helped him before responders arrived at the scene
- The actor underwent two surgeries after suffering "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries"
A video of Jeremy Renner being airlifted to a hospital after a snowplowing accident has been released.
TMZ shared a 40-second video showing the helicopter in which Renner was loaded onto Sunday at around 9:50 a.m. after the actor sustained injuries and lost an excessive amount of blood in a snowplowing accident in the area of Mount Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada.
A neighbor told the news outlet that the plowing machine Renner was using to clear the road about a quarter mile from his Tahoe home, called Snowcat, ran over one of his legs. Renner was plowing the road so his family could get out after a massive New Year's Eve storm, eyewitnesses told the outlet.
Another neighbor, who is a doctor, reportedly put a tourniquet on Renner's leg to stop the external bleeding until first responders arrived.
Police arrived a few hours later to impound the Snowcat. Unnamed sources told TMZ that the machine should not have rolled over the actor given its extensive safety features.
Renner has so far required two surgeries to address the "extensive" injuries he sustained, an unnamed source close to him previously told CNN.
Renner suffered "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries," a spokesperson for the actor told CNN Monday evening.
Renner "remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition" after his surgery Monday, the spokesperson said.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the officers responded to the area of Mount Rose Highway Sunday after a caller informed the department about a person with a traumatic injury.
Authorities did not share the extent of Renner's injuries, but the statement disclosed that the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health arranged his medical transport.
Meanwhile, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office major accident investigation team started its probe into the accident.
Renner, who famously plays the role of Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and currently stars in the Paramount+ series "Mayor of Kingstown," was reportedly the only person injured in the snowplow accident.
"Jeremy's family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families," his spokesperson said in a statement to CNN Monday.
"They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans," the rep added.
