“Saturday Night Live” has long poked fun of popular culture and its most recent episode went after a new target: the Super Bowl. The long-running sketch show parodied the typical events surrounding the big game, as well as the housing market. Another hot topic was Donald Trump’s upcoming impeachment trial.

Actor Dan Levy hosted the episode with musical guest Phoebe Bridgers.

Here are some of the notable sketches from the 11th episode of Season 46.

Cold Open

The seven-minute opening sketch poked fun at some of the socially conscious efforts made during this year’s Super Bowl. In the cold open, “SNL” cast members Kenan Thompson, Chris Redd, Mikey Day, and Beck Bennett portrayed sports commentators discussing a variety of topics.

“The pandemic, racial and political divisions, Armie Hammer, but today we come together in a spirit of unity to watch football and murder millions of chickens for their delicious wings,” Thompson said.

The panel poked fun at popular companies that attempted to include progressive messages in their advertisements such as a “historically delicious” Cheez-It commercial and a QAnon Papa John's Pizza promotion.

Weekend Update

On "Weekend Update," co-anchor Colin Jost jokingly pleaded with Trump to testify at his impeachment trial. The House had requested that Trump testify but he will not appear on the advice of his legal team.

“He will not testify at his impeachment trial next week, and I think I speak for all of us when I say, ‘Come on. Please?’” Jost said. “Give us one last show, man.”

Jost asked for Trump to attend by noting that it could make up for Trump's lack of commentary since his ban from social media.

“Come on. Think about it. You can yell out all the tweets you haven’t been allowed to post for the last month,” Jost said.

“You know, like ‘Worst inauguration ever #PoemBarelyRhymed’ or ‘No noms for Tim Allen? #GlobesTooBlack,’” Jost added.

Zillow

A parodied commercial for Zillow targeted people in their late-30s who fantasize about owning a home but can’t afford it. “You’re in your late 30’s now. Sex isn’t doing it for you anymore. You need something new. Something exciting. Zillow dot com,” Heidi Gartner says in the opening of the ad.

The skit received a lot of attention on Twitter from both Zillow and viewers in their late-30’s, who noted the actors were spot on in describing their current situations.

“The pleasure you once got from sex now comes from looking at other people’s houses,” Ego Nwodim said during the sketch.

Actor Regina King will host the next "Saturday Night Live" episode with Nathaniel Rateliff as the musical guest.
