Customers and employees at a Long Island hair salon were in for a shock on Saturday when a large-antlered deer crashed through the front window. The chaos ensued at around 12:30 p.m. at the Be.you.tiful hair salon, based in the Suffolk County town of Lake Ronkonkama.

According to Newsday, the buck sent glass shards flying upon impact and crashed into a woman sitting on a couch, injuring her head and legs. The woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“At first I thought it was a car – because of all the crashing,” Jeni Heredia, owner and hairstylist, said. “It was scary… It threw its head up against the wall three or four times and ran into the break room. It was bleeding. There was blood.”

In the video, two women can be seen running away from the deer, which rams into a large mirror on the wall. Later, it charges its way out, swinging open the front door without breaking the glass on it.

The animal was gone by the time police arrived on the scene. Heredia said that animals like deer are not uncommon in the area, as it is partially wooded.
