  • Meghan McCain has an audiobook memoir coming out and scored a columnist gig at Daily Mail after leaving "The View"
  • "The View's" exec producer allegedly doesn't want McCain to get news about the show that she could feed to the tabloid
  • A spokesperson for "The View" has denied claims that staffers have been banned from speaking to McCain

Meghan McCain's former boss at "The View" had a dramatic reaction to her new gigs, a report has claimed.

After exiting the ABC talk show in August, McCain, 36, is set to release an audiobook memoir titled "Bad Republican" and has also scored a new job at The Daily Mail as a columnist.

After learning about her new gigs, however, "The View" executive producer Brian Teta has allegedly attempted to ban staffers of the show from speaking to their former colleague, Page Six reported. The outlet claimed that Teta wants to prevent McCain from obtaining news about "The View" that she could potentially feed to the British tabloid.

"Brian has lost his mind. What does he think this is? A cult, where everyone has to listen to what he has to say?" an unnamed "The View" source told the outlet. "We literally report into the news division. We’re being told not to talk to someone on the outside, who has different political views… who used to work with us."

The insider added that many of the staffers are "still in contact" with McCain.

However, a spokesperson for "The View" has denied the claims, telling Page Six in a statement that "no one has been banned from talking to Meghan."

"Our focus is on the exciting season ahead and we wish the best for Meghan in her next chapter," the rep added.

A second insider also told the outlet McCain is still in contact with people at the show and continues to use the show's stylist, Fran Taylor.

"Her mom [Cindy McCain] was recently on as a co-host. This is so not true," the second source said of the allegations against Teta. "It was a warm reaction and there’s nothing but warm thoughts for Meghan. And she and Brian left on good terms."

McCain quit "The View" in August after four seasons as co-host. Her upcoming memoir will "describe the moment she decided to leave and everything leading up to," another source told Page Six.

It was previously reported that McCain was not happy at "The View" long before she announced her departure from the ABC daytime talk show in July.

When she revealed her exit plans, McCain said it was not an "easy decision" to make, but she cited her life in Washington, D.C., with husband Ben Domenech as a reason for her departure.

However, at the time, an unnamed insider claimed to Page Six that McCain no longer wanted to be part of the network due to the "vicious" workplace environment that allegedly "thrives off women fighting."

McCain's "Bad Republican" will debut on Oct. 21 exclusively on Audible, the Amazon-owned premium audio service.
