'Vikings' Season 6 Theory: How Ragnar Can Return One Last Time

“Vikings” Season 6 will mark the end of the long running TV series. The story began with the legendary warrior and king Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), and according to a new theory the character will return one last time to end the show.

Ragnar has returned a few times after his death in the form of flashbacks and visions. According to a fan theory posted on Screen Rant, the former king of Kattegat will return to see one of his sons rise as the new king.

One of the promo pictures of the show teased Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) being crowned the new king. The ruthless warrior and cunning strategist was chosen by his father to be his successor, but he is currently engaged in a fierce battle with his brothers to claim Ragnar’s legacy. When the crippled warrior emerges victorious, his father will return from Valhalla to place the crown on his head.

The promo picture of Ivar wearing the crown appears to have hinted at Ragnar’s return in “Vikings” Season 6. The picture shows the hands placing the crown on Ivar’s head has shackles. The fans of the show will remember Ragnar had shackles on his hands at the time of his death.

According to Screen Rant, the premiere episode of the next part of Season 6 will have to answer some very important questions about the major characters. Both Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and King Harald (Peter Franzén) were presumed to be dead in the mid-season finale while Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) and Torvi (George Hirst) were last seen in Iceland, where they are searching for Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård).

Show creator Michael Hirst previously hinted at both Harald and Bjorn surviving. In an interview with ET Online, the producer pointed out that the characters haven’t yet died on screen, which suggests that they will return. However, he added that the severe wounds mean that the two characters don’t have long to live.

“Vikings” Season 6, episode 12 is scheduled to premiere sometime later this year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date. There are 10 episodes left on the show.
