Vin Diesel has unveiled the official title poster for the next “Fast & Furious” film, and fans gave different reactions while referencing the various adventures the stars of the franchise went through in the previous movies.
The 54-year-old Hollywood actor took to Instagram Wednesday to share the title poster for the project, officially titled “Fast X.”
Without spilling much, he confirmed that production has already started by writing “Day one” in the caption.
Immediately after uploading the post, Diesel sparked mixed reactions from his followers and the fans of the franchise on social media. Many poked fun at the announcement as they guessed what could be coming next for Diesel’s Dom Toretto and the rest of the cast.
“What is this now? Time travel or multiverse?” one jokingly asked on Diesel’s Instagram post.
“Who are you guys gonna fight? The Avengers?” another added.
“Maybe this time 'Fast X’ will reach Mars,” a third user commented.
“'Fast X’s’ villain will be yet another member of Don’s family we didn’t know existed,” a fan wrote on Twitter alongside a meme featuring Darth Vader.
Another pointed out the similarity between the title posters of “Fast X” and that of the 2002 horror/sci-fi flick “Jason X,” claiming that the former made a not-so-obvious “copy” of the latter.
“Make it about cars or just don’t release it at all,” a different netizen stated.
Details about the plot of the next installment have been kept under wraps so far. But Collider has learned that it would be the first of the two films that would bring the “Fast” family saga to an end.
Early this year, the project made headlines after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed that he refused to return to the franchise after Diesel made a social media post asking him to reprise his role as Luke Hobbs for the last time.
Diesel and Johnson previously worked together on “Fast Five,” “Fast and Furious 6” and “Furious 7.” However, they got into an argument while filming “The Fate of the Furious” in 2016, prompting Johnson to exit the franchise.
Even though Johnson won’t be part of the next film, big stars have been tapped to solidify the star power of “Fast X.” Jason Momoa, Brie Larson and Daniela Melchior were confirmed to take part in the project, alongside returnees Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Sung Kang, as per Deadline.
Justin Lin will direct and produce the picture alongside Diesel. “Fast X” is expected to hit cinemas on May 18, 2023.
