Viral Video Shows ‘Halo’ Couple Meeting For The First Time; Watch The Heartwarming Moment
The Halo franchise is known as one of the most iconic video game titles for the Xbox gaming console, but for some it's more than a video game. The renowned franchise became a matchmaker for a Texas woman and a Tennessee man.
Five years ago, Cady Harris encountered Will Jarman in the virtual lobby of Halo 3, as Yahoo News reported. Harris told ABC that the two would play games for hours at a time before friending each other on Facebook. And that's how it all began.
In the beginning the pair communicated only through the game, but then they moved their relationship to the next level: online dating. Jarman even managed to gain the approval of Harris' mother before meeting his love interest in person. According to Yahoo, Jarman spoke to Harris' mom on the phone and she really liked him.
The couple chatted for years on various digital platforms such as Facebook, Skype, Myspace and Xbox. But it was the Skype video chat that truly sparked their romance.
Once we talked 'face to face' we hit it off as a couple from then on, said Harris.
The video of the two finally embracing at an airport, which was uploaded in March, has more than a million views on YouTube. Although the footage is four months old, it became an instant hit among gamers when a Reddit user uploaded it to the online forum, causing it to go viral earlier this week.
When you're online dating it's nothing physical, Harris said to ABC News. You have to actually just get to know the person for who they are. I've known him for five years, met his family, his friends. I know him for who he is. You get to know the person for themselves, not just their looks.
The couple is now engaged and the two are still in a long-distance relationship. They have not set a marriage date yet, and although other 18-year-olds think they're too young, their parents disagree. Both sets of parents will meet for the first time when the Harris family visits San Antonio for Jarman's brother's graduation from the Air Force Academy.
