Vitamin D Deficiency: Know Which Body Part Aches When You Lack The Vitamin
Vitamin D is among the vitamins that your body needs for it to function properly. Reality states, however, that not everyone would get sufficient amounts of vitamin D. A lack of this essential vitamin could lead to certain health complications.
According to Express’ report, when you lack vitamin D, you can suffer from bone deformities and bone pain. When you suffer from back pain most of the time, it could signal that you lack in the sunshine vitamin.
Chronic Lower Back Pain
Studies have revealed that there is a relationship between chronic lower back pain and the deficiency in vitamin D. In one of these studies, 9,000 women participated. They were examined about back pain and their vitamin D levels.
As per the findings of the researchers, those deficient in vitamin D were at a higher risk of suffering from back pain as compared to those who had sufficient amounts of the vitamin. Some even suffered from severe back pain, which rendered them unable to do their daily activities with ease.
Chronic Headache
Aside from back pain, another established pain in the body, which was said to result in a lack of vitamin D, was a chronic headache. In the study conducted at the University of Eastern Finland and published in Scientific Reports, the serum vitamin D levels of about 2,600 men between 42-60 years of age were analyzed.
Men who had low serum vitamin D levels suffered more chronic headaches every week. Those with higher serum vitamin D suffered from fewer headaches. Although the study was conducted between 1984-1989, it still proved useful considering that vitamin D does not alter or change over time.
Another point was that men who were examined outside summer suffered from more chronic headaches. On the other hand, those who were examined during summer, where people normally go out to enjoy the sun showed less chronic headaches.
Immune System Problems
There are also instances when a lack of vitamin D would result in immune system problems. This normally occurs between October and March of the following year. This is the time when individuals don’t get enough sunlight.
It is highly recommended for individuals to get as much natural vitamin D as they can. Just stay away from the sun between 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
