‘The Voice’ Season 13: What Do The Judges Get Paid?
As America prepares to vote one last time and choose a winner for “The Voice” Season 13, the celebrity judges are preparing for a huge payday. In the weeks leading up to the finale, viewers have come to adore the coaches who guide the hopeful contestants throughout the singing competition, but the artists don’t do it for free.
In the latest season of the NBC singing competition, country star Blake Shelton, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, pop star Miley Cyrus and R&B singer Jennifer Hudson were the four judges chosen to appear on the series. After watching the artists put their all into helping aspiring singers advance in the competition, there’s no shame in wondering how much they get paid for their services.
In 2016, Variety reported that both Levine and Cyrus make anywhere between $13 million to $15 million per season.
Although Cyrus has only been on the show for two seasons, the star has been credited with bringing in a younger audience, which may be the reason why she was able to snag such a high salary from the beginning.
According to Money Nation, Levine and Shelton, who started on “The Voice” together in 2011, earn $26 million from the show per year. The judges are paid $13 million each time a season airs, which happens twice a year.
Although figures regarding Hudson’s salary are unclear, the singer has brought plenty of star power to the singing competition. Hudson has a history with NBC, managing to wow viewers during her performance in “Hairspray Live” and has won over the Broadway crowd following her run in “The Color Purple” musical.
This means Hudson could have started off with a salary near her co-stars with $13 million, or could have settled for a lesser amount like $8 million, which Alicia Keys reportedly took home during Season 11.
Keys is expected to return as one of the judges for Season 14 of the competition which means she just may see a salary increase in the new year.
For now, fans get a final look at “The Voice” Season 13 judges when the finale airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
