‘Walking Dead’ San Diego Comic-Con Panel To Include Negan And Potential Victim, Season 7 Sneak Peek
You’re not going to want to miss “The Walking Dead” San Diego Comic-Con panel this year. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who joined the AMC series last year as comic book villain Negan, will sit alongside his co-stars for an hour of non-stop zombie talk on Friday, July 22.
The famous California convention released the schedule for July 22 yesterday, giving attendees a first look at all the exciting events set to take place on day 2 of SDCC. The schedule not only confirmed that “The Walking Dead” will be taking over Hall H at 1 p.m. PDT, but what cast members will be on hand to dish out some insight on the Season 6 finale and what’s to come in Season 7. Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Chandler Riggs (Carl), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Christian Serratos (Rosita) and Morgan will all be present, along with showrunner Scott M. Gimple and executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert and Greg Nicotero. “Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick will moderate the panel.
What’s interesting about this lineup of cast members is that every single one of them was featured in the final scene of the Season 6 finale — which means that one of them will be Negan’s victim. For those that need a refresher, the season ended with the survivors lined up as Negan came to a decision about who to kill. The leader of the Saviors chose his victim, but the cameras didn’t reveal which character had the misfortune of meeting Negan’s beloved weapon, a bat covered in barbed wire named Lucille.
Noticeably absent from the lineup of actors is Melissa McBride (Carol) and Lennie James (Morgan). Carol and Morgan took a different path in the Season 6 finale and ran into another group of survivors. A member of the Saviors had shot Carol repeatedly, and the new people agreed to take her and Morgan back to their safe haven for first aid.
Also absent from the SDCC panel are three out of the four actors who were promoted to series regulars in Season 7. While Jeffrey Dean Morgan will definitely be on hand, Tom Payne (Jesus), Austin Amelio (Dwight) and Xander Berkeley (Gregory) are not scheduled to appear. Here’s hoping that the sneak peek look at Season 7 will feature some clips of the missing cast members!
“The Walking Dead” San Diego Comic-Con panel will take place at Hall H on Friday, July 22 at 1 p.m. PDT. Season 7 of the series will premiere on AMC this October.
