“The Walking Dead” Season 10, episode 16 was all set to end the story of Beta (Ryan Hurst) and his Whisperer horde in an epic battle, but the coronavirus lockdown stopped the production. Director Greg Nicotero teased some details about the episode in a recent interview and said that the finale will setup the future stories of the show.
In an interview with SYFY WIRE, Nicotero described the upcoming episode as “fantastic.” The director was promoting the first season of “Creepshow” when he was asked about the zombie series.
Not only does the finale episode wrap up the stories of Season 10, which Nicotero described as “great stuff,” but it will also set up Season 11. Corey Reed wrote the script of episode 16 and Nicotero said the writer did a “great job.” He also complimented the cast and crew members for a job well done.
Nicotero teased that it will be “exciting times” when the fans get to watch the finale episode. He revealed that they were days away from finishing “The Walking Dead” Season 10, episode 16 before the coronavirus forced the producers to slow things down on the set to make sure everyone was working in a safe environment. Later, the lockdown forced them to completely shut down the production.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about what it will be like when the lockdown ends, Nicotero said the way they have been filming will change “pretty dramatically.” One of the consequences of the coronavirus will be that the producers will have to work with a fewer people on the set. The director said that the work is currently ongoing on preparing a set of guidelines for the entire industry, but at the moment it is not clear what these guidelines will entail.
When the production begins in a few weeks, the work will also resume on the new spin-off “World Beyond,” which is slated to air just two seasons. According to Screen Rant, the timeline of the spin-off will be around mid to late 2020, which opens the door for a few crossovers.
The producers are yet to announce a release date for “The Walking Dead” Season 10, episode 16. The episode will air as a special later this year.
