‘The Walking Dead’ Season 10 Finale: 3 Surprising Arrivals Ahead Of Season 11

"The Walking Dead" Season 10, episode 16 featured three arrivals who will be part of the show’s finale plotline.

One of the first arrivals is Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who, at the beginning of the episode, picks up a letter detailing the Alexandrians’ fight with the Whisperers. She later joins the group and saves Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) from a gruesome death.

The second character who returned after a brief absence is Connie (Lauren Ridloff), who was last seen in the episode "Squeeze" when the Whisperer cave collapsed. Connie survived the explosion that resulted in the collapse, and the episode showed the character passed out on a road as Virgil (Kevin Carroll) arrives on horseback.

The third big arrival is the soldiers from the Commonwealth, an advanced group of survivors living in Ohio.

Eugene (Josh McDermitt) encounters the group on his way to meet his love interest, Stephanie. At their rendezvous point, Eugene does not find Stephanie but is surrounded by a group of armed people that resembles the soldiers from the Commonwealth.

In "The Walking Dead" comic books, the source material for the AMC drama, Commonwealth is the final villain the Alexandrians meet before the story ends. And it appears that the television show will follow the same route.

Showrunner Angela Kang revealed that the new group will play a major role in the story moving forward. She also said that they will be featured in one of the six bonus episodes of “The Walking Dead” Season 10.

"For people who are comic book readers, they'll obviously recognize the guys in the outfits, but I don't want to spoil too much for the fans going forward," Kang told Entertainment Weekly. "We definitely have our own way into the story. I'll just say that this group does play a very important role going forward for our characters."

"We're working on pre-production on an episode that picks up with that story and I think there's some cool stuff that comes into that," the showrunner continued. "Who are these people? What are they about? We will start to learn that over time and unpeel those layers of the onion."

The additional six episodes of Season 10 will air in 2021. "The Walking Dead" Season 11, the last ever season for the AMC show, is set to air in 2022.
