‘Walking Dead’ Season 5 Spoilers: Chilling New Photo of Rick Released

AMC has released a brand new photo from Season 5 of “The Walking Dead,” and it is bound to send shivers down your spine. The premiere of the fifth season is only a few weeks away, and the network is giving fans a chance to see Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in all his zombie apocalypse survivor glory.

The portrait of Rick was released on Thursday by AMC’s official “Walking Dead” newsletter. While the image is solely of the former prison leader, fans can tell a lot about the upcoming season by his stance … and what he’s holding in his hand.

“Walking Dead” viewers can see a bearded and sweaty looking Rick standing in front of what appears to be a broken windshield. Wearing his wedding ring and the coat that he stole from the marauders, Rick looks directly into the camera which is inside the rundown vehicle. It’s unclear what Rick is eyeing (or mad-dogging) but it doesn’t seem like he’s in a good place. The fence in the background makes it appear as if he’s still confined within the Terminus compound, however the multiple weapons strapped on him suggest that he has a little more freedom.

While Rick carrying a weapon is nothing to go crazy over, it’s the type of weapon that should have fans of “The Walking Dead” worried. It looks like a large gun is strapped to his back, however his right hand appears to be holding a crossbow – Daryl Dixon’s (Norman Reedus) weapon of choice.

Is Rick holding Daryl’s beloved crossbow? Or is it simply just another weapon that he scooped up along the way from the marauders or the Terminus residents? Only time will tell. Fortunately fans don’t have to wait too long to find out the answer. “The Walking Dead” will return to AMC for its fifth season on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. EDT.
