Avid fans of the AMC series “The Walking Dead” have been eagerly awaiting the return of the zombie apocalyptic show to the small screen. The upcoming seventh season will be a roller-coaster ride of emotions, according to cast member Norman Reedus.

“The Walking Dead” season 7 is set to return with a heartbreaking premiere that will reveal the identity of a beloved character who became a victim of Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) barb-wired bat Lucille. The season 6 finale ended with Negan bashing the head of an undisclosed member of Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) gang.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the 2016 Guys Choice Awards, held in Culver City, California on June 4, Reedus described the upcoming new season as “mind-blowing.” He also joked that some scenes may even frustrate loyal fans of the show. “Things will be broken in their homes,” he joked.

He also said that "The Walking Dead" season 7 will be an "emotional" journey for both the show's characters, as well as for the fans. The actor even described the show as "so personal" for him and his fellow cast members. "There's death of friends and death of each other, and it's kind of hard to talk about, you know?" Reedus said.

Reedus also made a similar comment during an interview with TVLine, saying that for him and his fellow cast members, the heartbreaking death felt like it “really happened.” The actor, who portrays Daryl Dixon, explained that “The Walking Dead” cast are very close to each other and described them as a “tight-knit group.” He also commented on how they tend to take things “very personally” when something bad happens to a fellow cast member’s character.

The actor teased a “completely brand-new world” in the upcoming season but did not share any details. He also hinted that the new season’s premiere episode will be “well worth the wait,” referring to the revelation of Negan's victim.

“The Walking Dead” is expected to return to the small screen in October 2016.
