Wall Street opens up on Apple, bank earnings
Stocks rose on Wednesday as solid earnings from technology giant Apple as well as financials Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo tempered growth worries.
* Banks led the way up on the S&P 500, with the financial sector <.GSPF> gaining more than 1 percent. Apple was the biggest boost on the Nasdaq, jumping 4.5 percent.
* The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> added 24.68 points, or 0.24 percent, to 10,254.64. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> gained 4.49 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,087.97. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> rose 9.38 points, or 0.42 percent, to 2,231.87.
