Wall Street opens lower, weighed down by China
Stocks fell at the open on Monday as Chinese equities <.SSEC> dropped sharply and commodities fell on concerns that asset prices had run ahead of the economic reality.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 72.25 points, or 0.76 percent, to 9,471.95. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 8.10 points, or 0.79 percent, to 1,020.83. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> lost 17.19 points, or 0.85 percent, to 2,011.58.
