Police in Massachusetts are trying to identify the woman who reportedly sprayed a Walmart employee with Lysol in the eyes after she was advised not to hoard disinfectants amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Leicester Police Department said in a Facebook post Monday that the incident happened on March 27 at the Walmart Supercenter on Soojian Drive.

After the female suspect was informed the Walmart cashier that there was a limit on the number of Lysol that she could buy, she “responded” by spraying the employee in the eyes with the disinfectant, the post added.

The rude customer then went on to complete her purchase and left the store in what authorities believed to be an Uber.

Paramedics were called to treat the Walmart employee, said Newsweek.

Along with other stores, Walmart has enforced strict protocols against hoarding as the demand of cleaning supplies like Lysol skyrocketed due to the virus pandemic, pointed Fox News.

Newsweek also reported that the store is taking measures to protect its employees, including closing their facilities overnight for cleaning, restocking supplies and installing sneeze guards and markers to promote social distancing among its customers.

In addition, Walmart has started to check temperatures and gave their staff face masks and gloves. They will also limit the number of people inside a store and will only allow “five customers for each 1,000 square feet at any given time.”

The Leicester Police Department is urging the public to contact Officer Matthew Soojian for any information leading to the arrest of the female suspect.
