The peak weeks are now behind us and the number of earnings reports we get each week will now drift lower.
However, there are still quite a few big-name companies left to report their second-quarter numbers, including: Walt Disney, CVS Caremark, Dish Network, News Corp., NVIDIA, Kohl's, Nordstrom and J.C. Penney.
Among the 352 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported earnings so far, 66.2 percent have beaten analysts' expectations, according to data compiled by Thomson Reuters. Over the past four quarters, 68 percent of companies beat estimates.
We ran a screen and produced a list of 40 notable companies set to report their earnings between Aug. 6 and Aug. 11. We have highlighted their expected reporting dates and times, along with analysts' EPS and revenue estimates from Reuters, as well as the stocks' year-to-date performances.
Monday Before Market Open, or BMO:
Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE: CHK) is a natural gas and oil exploration and production company. The company has a market capitalization of $11.74 billion. It is expected to report FY 2012 second-quarter EPS of 7 cents on revenue of $2.37 billion, compared with a profit of 76 cents per share on revenue of $3.32 billion in the year-ago period. Chesapeake Energy is trading around $17.80 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 20.5 percent.
Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE: TSN) is a meat protein and food production company. The company has a market capitalization of $5.52 billion. It is expected to report FY 2012 third-quarter EPS of 55 cents on revenue of $8.75 billion, compared with a profit of 46 cents per share on revenue of $8.25 billion in the year-ago period.
