Want To Be Involved In All Important Things, Says Coutinho After Helping Barca Draw Vs Seville
KEY POINTS
- Philippe Coutinho scored for Barcelona in 1-1 draw vs Seville
- Barcelona are currently placed fifth in the La Liga table
- Coutinho scored 11 goals in 38 matches last season during his loan in Germany
Philippe Coutinho said he wanted to be involved in important things at FC Barcelona after he scored the equalizer in the Catalans’ 1-1 draw against Seville on Sunday.
Seville’s 30-year-old forward Luuk de Jong put his side1 -0 up in the eighth minute after Barcelona failed to defend a corner. Two minutes later, Coutinho scored the equalizer from Jordi Alba’s pass to ensure Barcelona earned a point from the match. Out of their three opening La Liga matches, Barcelona have won two and drawn one and currently placed fifth, while their arch-rivals Real Madrid are at the top of the table with three wins and a draw from four games.
It was Coutinho’s first La Liga goal of the season, and in a conversation with Spanish publication Marca, the Brazilian midfielder admitted he wants to work hard and get used to playing in the coming weeks.
"It was a complicated and difficult game, we already knew. This has just begun. We have made a point and now there is a break in the national teams. When we return, we have to continue working. It is a bit difficult three games, but we are at the beginning. We will get used to this and we will continue working. Sevilla have played very well. There was a lot of concentration of Sevilla players in the center of the field and that's why it cost us a bit. We have to correct it," added Coutinho, who returned to Barcelona after spending a season at Bayern Munich on loan.
Coutinho, who netted 11 goals in 38 appearances for Bayern Munich in the last campaign, dedicated his goal against Seville to his wife, who is pregnant with their third child. "I really want to work hard and be involved in important things. My wife is pregnant and I wanted to dedicate the goal to her. She is my third child," said 28-year-old Coutinho.
Barcelona’s next La Liga fixture is a home game against Getafe on Oct. 18.
