Want To Drive Like A Pro? Ford Is Offering Free Mustang GT500 Driving Lessons

Following the highly-anticipated launch of its 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, Ford (F) and its Performance Racing School have teamed up to offer free driving lessons to any consumer that purchases the muscle car.

The complimentary GT500 Track Attack program will be offered at Ford’s new Performance Racing School at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Here, owners of the new GT500 will learn all about the capabilities of the car from professional driving instructors.

Not only will there be track driving on a four-wide drag strip, but classroom training will also be incorporated in the program. According to Ford, drivers will learn “performance and handling characteristics” of the GT500 in what the automaker calls a “controlled environment.”

GT500 owners will learn to corner, brake, and launch the vehicle as they focus on the dynamics of the car, including its driving modes and launch control feature, all while improving driving skills.

“With its supercar-level powertrain, the all-new Shelby GT500 takes Mustang to a performance level once reserved only for exotics,” Dave Pericak, director of enterprise product line management at Ford said.

“We’ve set a new standard among American performance cars with our most powerful street-legal V8 to date, plus the quickest-shifting transmission ever in a Mustang for all-out precision and speed. GT500 Track Attack is absolutely essential in helping owners understand how to get the most out of their cars. This promises to be an exciting experience – one that owners will never forget,” he added.

For those GT500 owners that are looking for even more driving experience, Ford is offering a second day of on-track instructions in a car equipped with upgraded suspensions and brakes.

All costs for the driving lessons will be covered in its entirety by Ford, with GT500 owners being responsible for travel, hotel, and options day two program costs if selected, the company said. Ford also said it is working out options to bring guests along on the training, with reservations for the program being taken now.

Shares of Ford stock were up 2.41% as of 3:00 p.m. EST on Thursday.
