'Warhammer 40K Battlesector': Necron DLC, New Campaign Coming Soon
KEY POINTS
- Necrons will be joining the "Battlesector" roster of playable factions soon
- A new sandbox-style campaign mode will be introduced in a future update
- The campaign will feature all three factions while potentially leaving room for other factions to join in
The first DLC for Black Lab Games’ turn-based tactics game “Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector” has been revealed, giving players a glimpse of the upcoming Necron faction and the new campaign type that’ll be coming to the game.
Originally, “Battlesector” featured only Blood Angel Space Marines and the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Leviathan as the main playable factions in the primary game modes. However, in 2022, the Necrons will be made available as a new faction in a paid DLC pack, according to the new announcement.
Players can expect the usual roster of Necron Warriors, Flayers and Immortals, but screenshots showed that Skorpekh Destroyers will also be part of the faction army roster. More could be included, but the devs haven’t revealed any more as of yet.
In the “Warhammer 40k” universe, the Necrons are a race of ruthless and undying humanoid machines born out of an ancient conflict with old gods. Though they were once organic lifeforms, all members of the Necron Empire have been converted into literal killing machines that terrorize the known universe with overwhelming firepower.
Necron armies typically comprised vast legions of skeletal warriors equipped with ancient-yet-formidable Gauss weapons that can punch through even the toughest of modern armor. While the Space Marines strike with surgical precision and Tyranids overwhelm foes with sheer numbers, the Necrons employ a slow-yet-steady approach. The machine legion will take time to fully awaken, but when the entire force is mobilized, there is very little in the galaxy that can stop them.
To complement the coming of the Necrons to “Battlesector,” a new campaign style will be added to the game. This new Conquest-style mode will have all three factions fight over Baal Secundus in a large-scale conflict where players are free to choose how they proceed.
The new campaign style will be somewhat similar to “Dawn Of War: Soulstorm’s” campaign. Players will choose which targets to go after and will gain points or resources to further strengthen their armies. This new campaign not only acts as a refresher for “Battlesector’s” main story mode, but it will also provide players with a deep level of replayability that many fans have been asking for.
