Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have opted to forgo spending the Christmas holiday with the British royals this year. And while the palace claims Queen Elizabeth II signed off on their decision to celebrate elsewhere, rumors still persist of issues between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the royals, especially when it comes to their relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Despite their alleged problems, Us Weekly reports in their Dec. 30 issue that Kate Middleton recently gifted her sister-in-law a holiday present. “She’s open to making amends with Meghan, especially since its Christmas,” a source told the outlet.

And while Kate may have extended an olive branch to her husband’s brother’s wife, the outlet notes that Meghan has yet to return the favor. “For her part, Kate’s tried to reach out,” reads the report. “But there’s been no hint of reciprocity yet.”

Added an insider, “Harry and Meghan have distanced themselves from the rest of the family and they haven’t spoken to Kate or William.”

While it appears things may still be chilly between the royal couples, Meghan and Kate may have to put their speculated differences aside when they are "forced" to work together in the new year.
