The World Series champion Washington Nationals take to the streets Saturday, with hundreds of thousands expected for the 2 p.m. start. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the route on Thursday and encouraged prospective attendees to arrive early.

The parade will commence on Constitution Avenue Northwest at the intersection with 15th Street Northwest, near the Washington Monument. From there, it is planned to proceed east along the Mall until coming to an on at Pennsylvania Avenue and Third Street Northwest, where a rally is planned for 3:30 p.m.

“Arrive early, drink responsibly, cheer loudly, and don't drive,” Mayor Bowser said while announcing the event.

All vehicles, including cars as well as things like bikes and scooters, will be barred from the parade area. A pedestrian area will be set up for attendees to take in the parade from, and jumbotron screens will be set up along the route to stream the goings-on.

Included in the celebration are the Nationals players, coaching staff, and their coveted new World Series trophy.

Local school children, Little League players, and military members will also be taking part.

“We are proud of our team who went to Houston and finished the fight, winning their first-ever World Series and delivering another championship to our sports capital,” Bowser said. “Now it is our turn to deliver a parade of the ages to celebrate our Nats.”

The city's hockey team, the Washington Capitals, won the Stanley Cup in 2018, drawing roughly 800,000 for their celebration.
