'Wasteland 3' Set To Be Delayed Until August Due To Coronavirus

The latest iteration of the popular Wasteland series won’t be coming this May.
"Wasteland 3" was initially scheduled to be released on May 19. However, due to the coronavirus and the changes, it forced gaming developers to take in response, the launch of the game has been moved to August 28. 2020.
The co-creator and director of the game, Brian Fargo, confirmed the development through Wasteland’s official Twitter account. He released a statement noting that, like other game companies, they had to implement a work-from-home policy due to the ongoing pandemic.
As a result of the sudden changes in their working arrangements and the “logistical challenges” the situations brings, Fargo said they were forced to delay the game for a “few extra months” to ensure that they can deliver a “stellar product.”
“As with most companies, we have moved to a work-from-home environment some weeks ago, and that’s, of course, introduced new challenges that many of us throughout the world have been learning to manage,” Fargo said in his statement on Tuesday morning.
“We’ve been excited to see the "Wasteland 3" Beta so well received, but the reality is that with these new logistical challenges our release was going to be impacted.”
Moreover, Fargo emphasized that they will be using the extended time to work on the needed fixes and suggestions they got from their recent beta test. The game director specifically noted they are working on “optimization, polishing and refinements” while making sure the game brings an “awesome co-op experience.”
As reported by Polygon, "Wasteland 3" got a $3.12 million funding in 2016 through the crowdfunding platform Fig. InXile Entertainment, wherein Fargo serves as studio head, then partnered with Deep Silver to publish the game.
Unlike its predecessor "Wasteland 2" which took place in the Arizona desert, the upcoming version of the cult classic will reportedly be set in a different part of post-apocalyptic America. The role-playing video game has been popular for its narrative and the fact that the player’s decisions will have an impact on how the story develops.
"Wasteland 3" is slated to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Mac, Windows PC and Linux.
